Middle School students interested in learning more about teaching can connect with Michigan Virtual Students | Michigan Virtual to enroll in an exploratory course entitled:  Future Proud Michigan Educator – Explore

High School students can apply to attend the LISD Tech Center, which offers a class entitled Education Careers for high school juniors and seniors.  Education Careers – Human Services – Current Programs – LISD TECH Center  Students in Education Careers learn about child development and how children learn from birth to adult.  The class focusses on teaching strategies, lesson plan development, how to create a learning-friendly classroom environment and many other components of education.  Students have an opportunity to experience an on-the-job teaching experience as a cadet teacher.  They could do a work base learning experience if they return for a second year at a childcare facility or elementary classroom.  The teacher for the course is Jody Hillard and can be reached at:  jody.hillard@lisd.us

Dual Enrollment Opportunities for High School Students

High School Juniors and Seniors can participate in Dual Enrollment which is a terrific way to explore the teaching profession.  Students can talk with their high school counselor and work with one of the institutions below to apply.
