Sheri Jenski Bush loves to run. More than that, she loves to run marathons. Bush, originally from Napoleon, has run all over the globe and is the first American woman to have run all six World Marathon Majors. Bush plans to return to Adrian’s 2nd annual Art & Sole 5k on April 4, 2014. The race encourages runners to create three works of art along the track, but it’s not just the fun that brought this runner back.
“Joni Warner, has been a best friend of mine since 6th grade. We wanted to create a project to bring our energy and communities together. The Art & Sole 5K idea was born one summer day while we were kayaking Clark Lake. She’s with the Art Department at Siena Heights University and I’m a founder of the Soul2Sole Running Club at Clark Lake, Michigan.”
Bush passionately shares her running experience with others as a message of inspiration and has been involved in many community events. “My goal was to run one marathon before the age of 50, and I qualified for Boston running my first Detroit Marathon 2008. That goal changed my outlook and participation in LIFE to INSPIRE others to set a goal and to instill in them: the focus to which you put into that goal will supersede your wildest dreams!”
In Boston’s 2009 race, Bush learned of the World Marathon Majors and re-qualified to run all three USA WMMs in 2010, London & Berlin in 2012, and the newly added marathon in Tokyo in 2013, where only 4 females in the world completed the new 6 World Marathon Majors. Only one other woman from the United States and twelve other people in the world have run the series of marathons in Tokyo, Boston, London, Chicago, Berlin and New York.
At this year’s Art & Sole 5k, Bush will be running with her hometown pride in her heart and on her shirt that reads, “All Roads Lead to Adrian”. We are proud to have her representing Lenawee County around the world, and wish the best to her and the other participants.
