Local Government Revenue: the good, the bad, and the ugly
SEMCOG has been operating a local government revenue task force for the past 5 months and William Anderson will be sharing some of the preliminary work generated. The presentation will focus on the impact of the great recession on property tax revenue from across the state. The group has also studied the combined impacts of Headlee with Proposal A.
Information will be provided to demonstrate how the state has reacted to local government financial issues since the passage of Proposal A two decades ago. Finally, some preliminary recommendations will be discussed on how to strenghten local government revenues in the future.
