It’s official! The building process for Adrian College’s new health and medical clinic is underway. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on May 13th as project leaders dug the first patches of dirt on site. The facility will be located just off Charles Street between the Arrington Ice Arena and Docking Stadium.

DSC_0405-2This opportunity wouldn’t be possible without support from Adrian Steel and ProMedica, who are providing initial funding. The state-of-the art facility will house several doctors and medical staff who will provide support to the college’s sports medicine and athletic training programs, offer clinical experience, and help cover home sporting events. This addition will provide students, as well as the Adrian community, with exceptional health care options.

“By integrating this new service and support with our already existing medical, dentistry, athletic training, and other medically related fields, we will offer students a unique, comprehensive, hands-on learning experience that can help distinguish Adrian College nationally,” said Adrian College President, Jeffrey Docking in a recent press release from the school.

The collaboration between these three organizations, Adrian College, ProMedica, and Adrian Steel, will create great opportunity in our county. ProMedica is a mission-based, not-for-profit healthcare company serving in the northwest Ohio and southwest Michigan area. ProMedica’s participation will introduce a multitude of economic benefits, including new jobs. Adrian Steel even takes it a step further, partnering with Adrian College to promise generous tuition discounts for their employees and children in response to helping fund the new facility. Working with ProMedica physicians will allow Adrian College students the opportunity to gain real-world clinical experience prior to graduation.

The groundbreaking ceremony featured statements from President of Adrian Steel, David Pilmore, and Adrian College President, Jeffrey Docking, while participants including Lenawee Now Executive Director, Jim VanDoren, helped shovel. With the building process well on it’s way, construction will continue throughout the summer. View photos of the event below!
