Magnificent performances, rich history, and beautiful architecture characterize the Croswell Opera House, attracting fans nationwide. The Croswell has done an excellent job fundraising over the last year in preparation for its big renovation, and was pleasantly surprised to receive a $2.5 million dollar donation earlier this month. Julianne Argyros, longtime supporter of the Croswell, has made the largest single donation the theater has ever received, surpassing campaign goals. Plans to upgrade the 150-year-old building’s infrastructure, spectator comfort, and program opportunities are sure to enhance the overall experience. The Croswell’s successful fundraising effort will further expand Lenawee County’s cultural appeal for generations to come. The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) promotes the importance of a diverse arts and culture scene to build strong communities. Lenawee’s community effort to preserve the historic beauty of the Croswell Opera House proves our dedication to the developing arts and cultural awareness in our area. Public awareness of the arts not only creates community appreciation, but also boosts quality of life.
This is exactly where economic development comes in to play. A talented workforce is important, but a talented workforce with hometown pride is the ultimate. When businesses are looking to expand, relocate or build new facilities, the quality of life in the area they are considering becomes an important factor in their decision. The quality of arts and culture we have in Lenawee County, from the Croswell to the Adrian Symphony Orchestra, and the Tecumseh Center for the Arts and beyond, is unrivaled for a community our size.
Lenawee Now is pleased with this endeavor to keep the Croswell in pristine condition. With a vibrant quality of life in place, existing and potential employers will have happier and more fulfilled employees who want to grow roots in Lenawee County.
