On May 8, 2017 the Hillsdale Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Partnership of Hillsdale County, and Spring Arbor University sponsored the TRENDS Luncheon on the topic of health care and insurance at Olivia’s Chop House, in Jackson. Hillsdale County Chamber of Commerce and Lenawee Now representatives honored Barbara Mitzel with the Leadership Award for her hard work and dedication to Hillsdale and Lenawee County Economic Development.
After 39 years, Barbara has retired from her posting as Director of Public Affairs at Consumers Energy. Barbara worked out of Adrian, Michigan and was involved with several Michigan counties throughout her time at Consumers Energy, including Hillsdale, Monroe, and Lenawee. Being a part of the community and discovering new economic development opportunities was always an important mission for Barbra, “It has been a pleasure working for a company that values and cares for the community they serve.”
Barbara has worked on several economic development projects in Lenawee County and has been a community advocate for over 27 years. Barbara is looking forward to spending more time with her husband and two daughters. She is also very eager to begin the next chapter in her life which will include impacting the community through volunteer work.
Barbara will be missed at Consumers Energy, but will be greeted with open arms within the organizations that she plans to pursue.
