Lenawee, MI – Lenawee Now Foundation, a not-for-profit private public partnership driving economic opportunity in Lenawee County, Michigan, has been named one of seven communities in Michigan to receive grants totaling more than $5.4 million in competitive EPA Brownfields funding to expedite the assessment and cleanup of brownfield sites. Specifically, LNF will receive $500,000 to help fund environmental assessments in Lenawee County.
“Helping address legacy pollution and putting properties back on the tax rolls is an important part of building a vibrant economy,” said Michigan Department of Environmental, Great Lakes, and Energy Director Phil Roos. Lenawee Now Executive Director, Patrick Farver added that “our organization is excited to receive this award and is eager to utilize the funds to put formerly contaminated sites back into productive use throughout Lenawee County.”
Farver continued, “This is one more example of our efforts to collaborate with others to bring ‘Best in Class’ programs to Lenawee. This grant will enable us to expand our services and provide comprehensive resources and support to Lenawee County.”
