Lenawee Now is currently seeking an individual, from within Lenawee County, to fill the role of Executive Director. The Executive Director not only manages the operations of the organization but also builds relationships with local and regional partners.

Lenawee Now is a not-for-profit private-public partnership driving economic opportunity in Lenawee County through a variety of programs and services that help businesses startup or expand, develop a talented workforce, and access funding and state and federal programs.

The new director will be expected to provide strategic direction and leadership; develop positive external relationships, including with our investors, community partners, and vendors; develop marketing strategies; work with the Board of Directors on Board meetings; and related board matters.

The Executive Director is responsible to successfully lead the organization to achieve its mission and vision through strategic leadership and expertise in economic development.

Key Responsibilities / Deliverables:

  • Provide overall strategic direction and leadership for the organization.
  • Develop relationships with the Board of Directors, regional partners, elected officials and other stakeholders to develop a marketing and recruitment strategy for the region.
  • Recognize and successfully adjust the LN strategic business direction in response to economic development trends and legislative developments.
  • Lead annual long-range business planning process.
  • Promote a healthy business community by developing and maintaining positive relationships with the membership, state and local elected officials, and local economic/workforce development organizations.
  • Work with partners to coordinate state and local responses to retention and attraction opportunities.
  • Counsel public and private sectors on steps to improve their respective community’s retention, expansion and creation of value-added jobs and taxable growth.
  • Implement directives and strategies of the Board and serve as the official spokesperson of LN to market, promote and coordinate economic development efforts for Lenawee County.
  • Champion a team oriented environment, while coaching and encouraging staff to meet LN goals.

  • Ability to operate in a diverse political and multi-jurisdictional environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Marketing, Political Science or related field preferred.  A Master’s Degree in Business Administration would be an added plus.
  • Significant management level experience including a minimum of six to nine years of experience in economic development, Chamber marketing, governmental or a related field.
