What will I do after graduation? Am I prepared to enter the workforce? What resources and opportunities are available to me? These are common questions asked by graduating students everywhere.

Here in Lenawee County, local employers are looking for skilled graduates to join their team and help them fill positions that are currently available. From employee benefits (including tuition reimbursement) to other incentives, there is something to offer any dedicated student who wants to enter the workforce post-graduation.

In a collaborative effort to provide valuable information to educators and students, Lenawee Now’s ALIGN Lenawee Talent Consortium (ALIGN Lenawee) has partnered with employers throughout the county to recruit graduating seniors and encourage them to look for employment in the region. “Working with our employers to help them recruit, train, and retain their employees is one of our top priorities, which is why we put together these employer presentations,” said Michael Fox Jr., Specialist: ALIGN Lenawee/Career Education Navigator at Lenawee Now.

Representatives from Plastic Omnium (OP) and Autokiniton (formerly L & W Engineering) had the opportunity to share their employment and benefit opportunities with graduating seniors from Adrian, Madison, and Sand Creek high schools. A total of 100 students were in attendance for these presentations, providing the employers a diverse number of prospects. “These employer presentations were extremely informative, and it was great for our soon-to-be-graduates to learn more about the steps they can take now to ensure they are prepared to enter the workforce after graduation,” said Kristin Thomas, Principal at Madison High School.

Adrian, Madison, and Sand Creek School Districts are partnering with Lenawee Now and ALIGN Lenawee to strengthen and smooth the transition for students between high school and their chosen post-secondary option. With the shared goal of educating students on local employment and available educational opportunities, these partnerships benefit students, employers, and educators.

“Our involvement with ALIGN Lenawee has been incredibly valuable,” added Thomas. “We are looking forward to future opportunities to meet the needs of our students and continue our efforts to create a college and career-ready focus at Madison High School.”

Lenawee Now, together with the ALIGN Lenawee Talent Consortium, will be continuing these efforts by working with local companies and educational institutions to host similar events in the future.
