For those familiar with Hudson Dairy, home to thousands of Lenawee County cows and a producer of over 30,000 gallons of milk a day, you may be aware of their corporate owner, MilkSource LLC. However, you may not have known that because of Hudson Dairy’s affiliation with MilkSource LLC, our Lenawee County cows now have a few very prestigious friends.
MilkSource LLC operates several dairies across Michigan and Wisconsin, Hudson Dairy out of Hudson, Michigan being one of them. Recently, cows from MilkSource Genetics, located in Freedom, WI, won the Supreme Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion awards at the 2015 World Dairy Expo in Madison, WI. Not only did the cows win these awards, but they also made history in the process.
The MilkSource LLC cows made history because never before have three different breeds from the same farm won Grand Champion honors, in their respective classes. Not only did MilkSource LLC make history with these award winning cows, but they also were named Premier Exhibitor and Premier Breeder of the Red & White Show as well as Premier Exhibitor of the Holstein Show.
