Two first-time winners celebrate in Gatorade Victory Lane at MIS
The Pure Michigan 400 occurred this weekend at MIS and it was an interesting one. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race had emotions flying as Kyle Larson won his first race in 99 starts. He did not win with ease though, Chase Miller and hometown favorite Brad Keselowski were right there with him until the final laps. The drama was astounding as there were 20 lead changes between 13 drivers, with the result decided over the last 10 laps. Larson’s victory also meant that Chevrolet won the coveted Michigan Heritage for the fourth time since its inception in 2013.
Michigan apple growers expect to harvest crop
This year more than any year apple growers are very excited for what the future holds. They expect to pick a record crop this year. The state has more than 11.3 million apple trees in commercial production on 825 farms. The Michigan Apple Committee is forecasting a harvest of 31 million bushels, an increase of 7 million bushels over 2015 and the biggest ever for the state. Go get your apples today!
