Adrian, MI – Orientation and class schedules have been confirmed for candidates participating in the next session of Launch Lenawee small business development training. Those who have applied online and passed initial interview screening will meet on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 5:30 pm in the Adrian Armory Events Center.
The instructional period will cover approximately 12 weeks, with both internet-based and classroom instruction, along with extensive homework and assignments. Monthly mentorship continues throughout the remainder of the six-month program.
“We have a larger enrollment in the Launch Lenawee program this time and are looking forward to collaborating with resources throughout Lenawee County to see these businesses launch and grow,” explained Mark Murray, co-founder of the Launch Lenawee program. “There is a lot of information to pass on to these students. We will help facilitate introductions to community resources as they are needed, and as the students are ready for each growth phase of their business.”
Launch Lenawee uses the Kauffman Foundation Fasttrac training that has been used by other Launch communities. In addition, Gary Clemetson, Lenawee Now Director of Entrepreneurial Services, and Tim Robinson, Lenawee Now Director of Operations, also assist with instruction and resource support for candidates.
Candidates are from a variety of business types and levels of experience, seeking the guidance and mentorship that Launch Lenawee offers through the collaborative network.
One-on-one mentoring and guidance will be scheduled after each candidate is evaluated, to understand where in the process they need assistance. Dave Maxwell, a local SCORE Certified mentor, assists with assigning students to the appropriate mentor resources throughout the six-month program.
“This program includes collaborative mentorship. Our asset map outlines resources throughout Lenawee County that may be available to a new business owner or entrepreneur. Through it, we will help the student find the expertise required, along with key contact information, to complete the valuable business connections needed during the start-up phases of a business,” said Jessica Sattler, City of Tecumseh Economic Development Director.
Candidates interested in upcoming sessions of the Launch Lenawee program can find more information on the website, where an initial application process begins the intake screening.
