The Three Bridges Boutique started as a lifelong dream and a way of keeping a historic building open for the community. This shop offers trendy clothing and gifts, many of which are Michigan-made and crafted by local artisans. By supporting local talent and charitable causes, the boutique creates a vibrant community spirit, ensuring a reliable and enjoyable shopping experience every time. During Independent Retail Month, we support businesses at every stage and celebrate how independent retail can support the economy, by sharing Susan’s story, of how she and her daughter Heather created this space for Blissfield:

In 2018, my daughter and I moved from Florida to Blissfield, Michigan, to fulfill her dream of owning a boutique. We purchased a historic building nearly three years ago, aiming to keep it open for the community and avoid having another vacant property.

We are deeply involved with the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and Main Street for their various events. I also engage with local schools and Rotary Club activities. Our boutique supports community causes, such as fundraising for individuals with cancer.

We embrace the local spirit through our products and services. For example, we embroider polo shirts for school teams and stay open late for downtown events like the wine stroll, where we serve wine. Our boutique also hosted a “Mom and Me Tea” and handed out chocolates during a Mother’s Day event.

We prioritize Michigan-made products, like those from Cherry Republic, and feature unique items from local artisans. One such artisan designs cards while working at a Toledo Zoo, and another creates lotions and bath products we proudly sell. Customer service is paramount; we introduce ourselves to every customer and help them find the perfect gift or item.

Our clothing selection includes unique, trendy items, researched and curated by my daughter. We offer products from small to 3X for women and children, with kids’ clothing being particularly popular.

Marketing has been our biggest challenge. Initially, we managed it ourselves but soon realized the need for professional help. We hired a marketing expert from Grand Rapids who assisted with consistency in our online presence and in-store displays.

Our dedication to supporting local talent extends to the Blissfield community. We aim to feature locally made items in our store, creating a supportive network for local artisans. Seeing our customers wear our clothes in public brings immense joy, knowing we contribute to their happiness and the community’s vibrancy.

In conclusion, this boutique thrives on local support and contributes to the collective spirit of Blissfield. We are pleased to highlight the stories in our community, and help our independent retailers thrive.
